The Clean Needle Program is a public health measure to reduce the spread of blood-borne viral infections such as HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C among injecting drug users and the general community. The program provides a range of services including the provision of injecting equipment, education and information on reducing the level of drug use and referral to drug treatment, medical care, legal and social services.
Nunyara will have sterile injecting equipment available, which includes portable sharps disposal containers for clients, and a larger on-site bin is available to safely dispose of used equipment. There will also be printed information available to clients in regards to blood-borne viruses, referral services and drug information. The CNP service will be available from the Administration building at Nunyara, any further queries please phone Julia on 8649 9900.
